Red Carpet Looks: 2011 Met Gala

Forget the Oscars or Grammys, the ultimate red carpet eye candy can always be found at the annual Costume Institute Gala held at the famed Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.  Titled "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty", this year the fete honored the late great designer who committed suicide early last year.

Check out some of LLT's favorite arrivals below:

1. Twilight star Ashley Greene looked like a siren in a Donna Karen gown.
2. Gossip Girl star and Chanel spokeswoman Blake Lively posed with Karl Lagerfeld in what else but a stunning Chanel gown.  Great look however we wish she would've given those California wind swept locks a break in favor of something more sleek.
3. Power couple Carmello Anthony and LaLa looked like royalty in an well fitted suit and princess gown.  I swear ever since these two made it official they have been looking fantastic!
4. R&B songstress Ciara channeled her inner diva in a soft gown that packed in some sparkle.  We give the overall look a B since the wavy dark locks and hefty cuffs weigh the look down. A romantic bun and some diamond bangles would have been a prettier choice.
5. Cuties Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr (wearing Marchesa) reminded us of a senior prom king and queen.  Miranda's look was bit a daring but we ultimately gave her a pass; she isn't used to wearing that much clothing anyway.  ;)
6. Hollywood stars Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger (in Jason Wu) made quite the pair that night.  While we're not complete fans of the white piping on Josh's suit, we are huge fans of the daring slit Diane brought out in full force.  #rawr
7. Adorable child star Elle Fanning looked precious in Valentino.  She's clearly taking hints from her big sis Dakota who also donned a Valentino look for the night.
8. Pop phenom Rihanna brought the drama with a heavy lace look by Stella McCartney.  We're a bit on the fence with the look but one thing's for sure, that drab over-dyed braid has to go!
9. The always sexy Selma Hayek was one of the handful of people who arrived in one of the honoree's, Alexander McQueen, creations.
10. Resident actress by way of nepotism, Rumer Willis, posed in a dramatic Badgley Mischka gown.  We feel like the fit wasn't quite right on her but thumbs up to the dress on it own!
11. Country crooner Taylor Swift switched it up with lace embellished look by J Mendel.  While it didn't receive rave reviews from the critics, we applaud Swift, who has rocked the same hairstyle since she debuted, for trying something new.  And A+ for the romantic hair and dramatic makeup.

Special shout out to OMG @ Yahoo for these amazing shots.  ;)

if you driving it, I drove it / if you got it, I sold it

Unfortunately in the fashion world, biting is an inevitability.  While I can't stand blatant fakes (you, with the fake speedy!  I see you! Real Louie's don't lean like that!!) less expensive takes on designer duds are kind of how the majority of us get by (see: Zara && Forever21).  However, this is inexcusable as far as I'm concerned.

Evening gown by Zuhair Murad

Forever Unique Scalloped Hem Bandeau Dress

The original is farrrrr too unique to just be cut and sewed like that!  Idk, this just doesn't sit well with me...

Why are people always so surprised and annoyed when retailers push Christmas just days after Halloween when it happens EVERY YEAR? Just deal. Kthanx

Dude, it's been forever.

How about some pics of well dressed celebs out and about?

The always gorge Victoria Beckham at a Lakers game

Reese Witherspoon looking sweet in Narciso Rodriguez

Katy Perry looking tame and stylish in a Marchesa gown.

Audrina Patridge in Lanvin thigh highs. Hot!

lolz.

heart always,

tee

Emmy's 2009 Eye Candy

I heart red carpet looks. Olivia Wilde from House in Marchesa.
It's like Winter Olympics meets Buring the Floor. Loves it!

Jennifer Love Hewitt of Ghost Whisperer in Max Azria
As usual she and the dress are adorable all though I wish she'd take a risk every once and a friggin while. Her choices rival that of a 16 year old Taylor Swift. :x

Jennifer Carpenter of Dexter in Zuhair Murad.
Not familiar with this actress but I'm loving this look. It makes me think of a nice tall flute glass of vintage champagne. Mmhm!

January Jones in Versace.

Stunning. This girl came to WORK. My fave look of the night hands down.

And now for my guilty pleasures...

Karina Smirnoff of Dancing with the Stars

I love me a luxe black dress. Just dip a dress with a little bit of edge in black, wrap it in some tulle, throw on some glitter and I'm d. It's totally the 12 year old in me but I don't care!

Mila Kunis of Family Guy in Monique Lhuillier

There was a much better picture but I can find it. ::frustrated:: I love how the dress isn't floor length, that would've made it way too predictable.

heart always,
tee.
